Passing of the Honourable Gérard V. La Forest

On behalf of the judges and staff of the Supreme Court of Canada, Chief Justice Richard Wagner extends his condolences to the family of retired Justice Gérard V. La Forest, who passed away yesterday. A long-time public servant, Justice La Forest also had a distinguished career in academia. He was appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada in 1985 and served for more than 12 years.
